In case you’ve missed the dozen or so times I’ve urged you to ignore this group and their products, let me reiterate my plea. In my opinion, TTAC represents everything wrong with social media science. They mix a smattering of sensible information with a mountain of doctor bashing, conspiracy theories, fear-mongering and utter nonsense. Their abysmal “documentaries:” are just marketing for selling MP3’s and questionable products.

EXPLORE: Real breakthroughs regarding cancer. This week, it’s Walnuts. Eating just 2 oz of walnuts (and probably pecans as well) a day will reduce cancer risk and may even provide treatment benefits.

Dietary walnut altered gene expressions related to tumor growth, survival, and metastasis in breast Cancer patients
W. Elaine Hardman, et al

Abstract
Consumption of walnuts has slowed breast cancer growth and/or reduced the risk of mammary cancer in mice. The benefit against cancer was associated with altered expression of genes for cancer growth and survival. We hypothesized that walnut consumption would alter gene expression in pathologically confirmed breast cancers of women in a direction that would be expected to decrease breast cancer growth and survival, as was seen in mice. Immediately after biopsy collection, women in the walnut group began to consume two ounces of walnuts per day until follow-up surgery. Two weeks after biopsy, additional specimens were taken from the breast cancers. RNA-Seq expression profiling revealed that expression of 456 identified genes was significantly changed in the tumor due to walnut consumption.

Ingenuity Pathway Analysis showed activation of pathways that promote apoptosis and cell adhesion, and inhibition of pathways that promote cell proliferation and migration. These results support the hypothesis that, in humans, walnut consumption could suppress growth and survival of breast cancers.

Toxins. 2018 Nov 14;10(11). Natural Products to Fight Cancer: A Focus on walnuts (Juglans regia)
Catanzaro E, Greco G, Potenza L, Calcabrini C, Fimognari C.

Abstract
Natural products represent an excellent library of bioactive molecules. Thus, tapping into the natural world may prove useful in identifying new therapeutic options with favourable pharmaco-toxicological profiles. Juglans regia, or common walnut, is a very resilient tree that has inhabited our planet for thousands of years. Many studies correlate walnut consumption to beneficial effects towards several chronic diseases, such as cancer, mainly due to the bioactive molecules stored in different parts of the plant. Among others, polyphenols, quinones, proteins, and essential fatty acids contribute to its pharmacologic activity. The present review aims to offer a comprehensive perspective about the antitumour potential of the most promising compounds stored in this plant, such as juglanin, juglone, and the ellagitannin-metabolites urolithins or deriving from walnut dietary intake. All molecules and a chronic intake of the fruit provide tangible anticancer effects.
